We are happy to share with you a Call for Papers for our panel, ‘Anchoring Innovation in and with “Classical Athens”’, which is organised under the aegis of the Anchoring Innovation research programme and which will be part of the 16th Celtic Classical Conference (CCC) to be held in Coimbra, Portugal, from 15–18 July 2025. The panel is organised by Luuk Huitink (University of Amsterdam) and Janric van Rookhuijzen (Radboud University Nijmegen). Confirmed speakers include Susan Alcock and Jeremy McInerney. Next to the invited speakers, the panel will feature 10 to 12 further contributors. We welcome proposals from across the full range of Classical disciplines, including language & literature, history, archaeology, and reception studies. Proposals should contain a provisional title and abstract of no more than 500 words (excluding bibliography), and follow the proposal template made available by the CCC; it can be downloaded here: https://www.uc.pt/cech/16-ccc/calls/call-for-papers/. We will accept abstracts till March 1, 2025; decisions will be communicated shortly after. Please send abstracts to l.huitink@uva.nl and janric.vanrookhuijzen@ru.nl. Priority may be given to scholars not directly involved with the Anchoring Innovation research programme in the Netherlands.
